Arriving on March 20, the 2026 Spring Equinox marks the official astronomical start of spring in the UK. As daylight finally overtakes the night, it serves as nature’s "green light" - the milder weather and longer evenings provide the perfect conditions for longer treks and safer travels. Historically a symbol of renewal, this shift is the ultimate psychological reset, encouraging us to trade winter hibernation for active planning, hiking, and camping.

The National Outdoor Expo makes its fifth appearance at the Birmingham NEC on 21–22 March 2026 - perfectly timed for planning spring and summer escapades. As a premier destination for the UK adventure scene, the expo brings the community together, offering a unique space for icons, brands and enthusiasts alike to share tips, celebrate nature, and find the motivation for the season ahead.

The event features an incredible roster of speakers across two days, with headline appearances from Ben Fogle, Steve Backshall, Molly Thompson-Smith, Spencer Matthews, Hugh Dennis, and Mark Beaumont. The live agenda pairs thought-provoking discussions on the Inspiration Stage with practical mastery in the Outdoor Skills Theatre and Outdoor Kitchen, where experts lead workshops on everything from wilderness survival to gourmet camp cuisine.

This year’s expo features pair fresh, innovative additions with crowd favourites. A new major highlight for 2026 is the debut Outdoor Adventure Film Festival, where you can mingle with industry pros, the explorer community and athletes - including a Q&A with world class climber and adventurer Leo Houlding. Join the exclusive experience on Friday, 20th March, for a curated selection of stunning adventure films, hosted in partnership with the legendary Kendal Mountain Festival at The Vox, Resorts World Birmingham.
Additional highlights at The National Outdoor Expo 2026 include caving, an Adrenaline Drop, and sessions in mountain safety and orienteering. You can also try watersports like paddleboarding, kayaking, and open water swimming, or head to the climbing wall or cycling zone - which features a bike demo track and clinic.

Tickets to the expo are free for kids and the show will be open 9am – 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Find out more and secure your tickets here.
