Steve Backshall is a BAFTA award-winning wildlife expert and one of the UK’s most respected natural history presenters, as well as an accomplished author, speaker and conservationist. Renowned for his fearless approach and deep-rooted passion for the natural world, he has built a distinguished career bringing audiences closer to some of the planet’s most extraordinary and endangered environments.
His recent work includes The Secret Life of Bees (Channel 5), alongside acclaimed projects such as Ice Age: A Frozen Planet, Deadly 60 Series 5, Whale with Steve Backshall and the landmark BBC series Our Changing Planet. He is best known as the face of the globally successful Deadly franchise, with Deadly 60 earning him a BAFTA for Best Children’s Presenter, while the series itself also received BAFTA recognition.

Beyond television, Steve is a compelling live performer, with multiple sell-out tours across the UK and Australia. His latest show, Ocean, was met with critical acclaim, and he returns to the stage with Deadly 60 Live, combining daring stunts, live demonstrations and captivating storytelling. A highly sought-after speaker, Steve delivers powerful talks on resilience, leadership, sustainability and high performance, drawing on his extraordinary experiences in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

He is also a prolific author, with titles spanning both adult non-fiction and children’s fiction, including Deep Blue and Wildlings: How to Raise Your Family in Nature, co-authored with his wife, Olympic gold medallist Helen Glover.
